Joann Watchman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 25, 2024.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Joann Rose Watchman. She departed from this world and reunited with her late husband Henry Reynolds Watchman on June 24th, 2024 in Phoenix Arizona surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Toadlena, NM to the late Jessie Begay. Her siblings are Stanley Hardy, Cecelia Sandman, Rita Holly, Jimmy Tauglchee and the late Lillian Cohoe. But she mainly grew up with the Alger Family in Orem UT. Her loving foster parents were the late Afton and Ellen Alger. They welcomed her into their home at a young age with their children, Keith Alger, Ellen Afton Lunceford and Raymond Begay.

She leaves behind three headstrong children, seven awesome grandchildren and one handsome great grandson. She devoted many years to social service work.

Unfortunately, there will be one memorial service held in her honor for family and friends at the LDS church 1310 E 25th Street Farmington NM at 9:30 a.m. The reception is to follow.

Ms Joann was a joy to work with as I briefly assisted in her care. My heartfelt prayers go out to the family and love ones left behind in her passing. May the Lord bless and keep you all.

My late brother Henry and Joann took me to my first concert.
We use to dare each others. We ordered a pizza with anchovies. It was awful. We each choked down one slice. We vowed, "Never again!"
The conversations we had from one extreme to the other.
The jokes. We would laugh until we cried.
The scary movies.
Calling each other , on the phone and the first thing we would say is, "This is your long lost sister-in-law!"

I have many wonderful memories of my Aunt Joann. She has been a part of my life since childhood. Some of the favorite things I've done with her are camping in the mountains and telling stories around the campfire. She also helped me a great deal at my wedding. Later she came for a visit and sat around, making beaded bracelets with my girls. We had a great time telling funny family stories.

The last few years I have talked to her almost every week and enjoyed every minute. I will miss her a great deal! She has a very special place in my heart.
