Joanne Forbis Obituary

Joanne Delores Forbis of Fairview passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018. She was 85.
Joanne was born in Portland, March 30, 1933. She grew up in and around the Portland area and graduated from Beaverton High School. In June of 1955, she married William Forbis Jr. Together they had a family of four boys, Mark, Ken, Rick and Jeff. Rick passed away in 1970. Later the family grew to include a daughter, Colette and three daughters-in-law, Kim, Julie and Shannon, as well as nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Joanne was always active. She loved painting, working around her home, spending time with her family and friends and caring for her grandchildren. Throughout the years Joanne volunteered at Providence Hospital, The Portland Women's Crisis Line, The Oregon Department of Health and Human Services and as a teacher's assistant in the classrooms of Jason Lee school in Portland. Joanne was a very easy person to love and had a profound impact on those whose lives she touched.
Joanne is survived by her children, Mark, Ken, Jeff and Colette; and her sister, Loretta Soria.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Joanne's life at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 16, 2018, at her home.

It was my great pleasure to get to know Jo for the last three years in an art class, where she really enjoyed painting a wide range of subjects in various mediums. She was vivacious, had a true joy of life, was compassionate, and had a great sense of humor. She was a delight to all those around her. She spoke often of her beloved family. She is sorely missed.
