Joanne Gornick

Joanne M. Gornick, 92, of Allentown, Pennsylvania, formerly of Emmaus for many years, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Lehigh Valley Hospice-17th Street Inpatient Hospice Care Unit, where she and her family received much care and compassion. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Gornick, with whom she shared 49 years of marriage before his passing in 2007.

Born on November 7, 1932, in Allentown, Joanne was the daughter of the late Earl and Charlotte (Weiss) Landis. She graduated from Allentown High School in 1950. Prior to having children, she was employed by E. Z. Steak Co.

Her greatest joy was spending time with family, and she especially enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook and made weekly family dinners for many years. Recently, she also enjoyed visits from her granddog, Cooper, who always made her laugh. She was never much of an animal lover until her previous granddog, Dakota with his gentle nature, captured her heart.

She was a devoted mother to her children: Patricia, wife of Tim Afflerbach, Joseph J. Jr. and his wife Steph, Anthony and his companion Betty Krause, and Michele Reitz and her companion Ron Cockley.

Joanne was also a cherished grandmother to Joseph and his companion Danielle Oswald, Shane and his companion Emily Crum, Ryan and his wife Amanda, Robert and his wife Holly, Shelby and her husband Nick Monturano, and Andy Lee and his wife Cindy Kim. She was further blessed with two great-grandchildren, Mason and Livia.

Services will be private, at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lehigh Valley Hospice in care of O'Donnell Funeral Home, Allentown.
