JoAnne Gray, 62, of Athens, Pa., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Aug. 6, 2012 at Robert Packer Hospital.

She was born on April 16, 1950 in Waverly, N.Y. a daughter of Marshall Preston Sr. and Oaple Grabb Preston.

JoAnne loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and the rest of her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and reading. JoAnne owned and operated the 61 Diner, Waverly, N.Y. and was the manager of Lou's Diner in Nichol's, N.Y. for 4 years.

She is predeceased by her infant son Matthew Todd Brown, father Marshall Preston Sr., and close friend Alvin "Butch" Curtis.

JoAnne is survived by her daughter Jennifer Gray Cranor of Athens, Pa.; and sons Mark (Katherine) Brown of Athens, Pa. and Jason Brown of Athens, Pa.; grandchildren Nina Needham, Matthew Brown, Miranda Brown, Kali JoAnne Alexander, Sierra Brown and Kieran Cranor; mother Oaple Boehm; siblings Mrs. Cremora "Tish" Dailey of Florida; Marshall Preston Jr. of Oklahoma, Nancy Wootton of Florida, Raymond Preston of Waverly, N.Y., Donald Preston of Canton, Pa. and Lucille Jordan of Sayre, Pa.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and family may call from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11 at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 225 S. Main St., Athens, Pa. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Chris Gray from Greater Valley Assembly of God officiating.

Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Waverly, N.Y.
