Joanne Roach, age 83, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 3, 2023, following complications from a blood clot. Her ever present smile, wit and good humor were with her until her last moments.
Joanne was one seven children of born to the late Forrest L. and Hazel Jane (Randles) Duncan. She is survived by her sisters, Janice Williams, Hester Treece and June Spinks and her brother, Forrest Duncan. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Joyce Webb and Judy Thornsley. The family spent their childhood years growing up in Spring Mountain which Joanne fondly remembered throughout her life.
In 1959 she married the love of her life, Dick Roach who preceded her in death in 2001. Joanne and Dick are survived by two sons and their spouses, Garth and Sacha Roach and Garrett and Nikki Roach. They instilled in their children a duty to work hard and to do things the right way the first time. They also shared their love of the outdoors and nature.
Joanne loved many things. Among her favorites were cooking, baking, gardening and playing cards with her friends. She was known for her cherry pies which were devoured by all. Joanne cooked more wild game during her lifetime than any housewife should have to. She especially loved hunting mushrooms every spring with her grandchildren, Carli, Connor, Chloe and Zac whom she cherished. Her first concern in every conversation was always determining the whereabouts and activities of her grandchildren.
Joanne lived and worked in Killbuck nearly her whole life. She worked as a teller at the Killbuck Savings Bank for many years and loved every minute of it. She retired once and went back because she missed it so much. She had a deep connection with her customers and her community.
Joanne will be sadly missed by her family who loved her dearly.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, April 8 from 11-1 at the Killbuck United Methodist Church, 410 North Main Street, Killbuck, Ohio 44637. The funeral service will be held immediately following calling hours at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Killbuck United Methodist Church, whose mailing address is 180 Mark Avenue, Killbuck, Ohio 44637 or to the charity of your choice.
