Joaquin Casareno, Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 2, 2025.
Joaquin Casareno Jr., A son, a brother, a father, a friend.

Joaquin was born on October 17, 1959 in Salinas, California. A lifelong Monterey County resident of 65 years, where he ultimately went to rest on the morning of August 9, 2025.

Son to Mildred (2011) and Joaquin Sr (1976). Survived by his only child, Joaquin Adrian (Elise) along with his two granddaughter's Karisma Lorraine and Emara Hope. The oldest brother of 6, Joaquin was welcomed home by his younger brother David, of New York, who passed away in December 2024. Also survived by siblings Hope of Albuquerque, NM, Alex (Joe) of El Dorado Hills, Don (Rachelle) of Salinas and Rosaria Welles (Andre) of Sacramento. In addition, he leaves behind a niece Laura (Demi and Mason) and nephew Andre Jr. Family meant everything to Joaquin and he leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love laughter wisdom and pride.

Joaquin attended local schools as a child and is an alumni of Salinas High School, Class of 1977. Joaquin gave selflessly to his community and passionately cared about helping others in need. He started his 38 year career with the County of Monterey on July 1, 1987 as an Eligibility Worker I and worked his way up to an Eligibility Worker Ill before joining CalWorks Employment Services (CWES) in June of 1999, where he continued his employment up until his passing.

Joaquin will always be remembered for his friendly, playful and zany demeanor. He loved music and films of all genres. Joaquin enjoyed dancing whenever the opportunity arose. Now dancing in heaven, we mourn his absence until the day we get to hear another joke from him. Forever cherished by those lucky enough to have known him, now he is at peace.

A gathering to honor and remember Joaquin will be held on Saturday September 6, 2025 from 2pm-4pm at the Alta Vista Mortuary, 41 East Alisal Street, Salinas CA

Joaquin and I were at Salinas High at the same time. He always brought a smile to my face and made me laughed. Signed my year book Love Joaquin, then crossed out the love, was funny. Our paths never crossed after High School, but can only imagine how many souls he made happy!
