Joaquin Frasu

Joaquin Frasu, Jr. Born Sep. 6 1924 died April 20th 2012.

Mr. Joaquin Frasu, also know to all his many friends as "Mike" was a native of Yakima. He joined the army in 1939 and was a proud veteran of World War II. He served with honor in the service of our country for 6 years and was attached to the 101st Air Bourne where he saw action in Europe. He parachuted into Normandy France on D Day June 6, 1944 where he saw significant action. Later after RR in England he was deployed by glider to the front where he subsequently fought in the defense of Bastogne, Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944-45.
Mr. Frasu married Doris Cone in 1947 and they lived the majority of their 58 years together in Yakima. Together they raised 3 boys: Gail, Danny and Greg. Through the years he worked as a cook, salesman, land developer, and restaurant entrepreneur. Joaquin (Mike) had a significant presents in the restaurant business in and around the Yakima area. Notable restaurants he owned and operated along with his wife Doris through the years were the Kings Table, The Phoenix, Air Port, and The Lariat Drive In. Mike was an excellent chef and was known for his great food and service. Mike loved to talk to people and was a person, that if he met you, he would remember you. Everywhere he went he made friends and just seemed to know everyone. He was a hard working and generous man and he helped many of those he knew when tough times came upon them.
He is survived by his 2 sons Gail and Danny, 8 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Doris (2005) and by his youngest son Greg (2001).
Services for Mr. Frasu are through Keith & Keith. A viewing will be Friday evening from 4PM to 8PM. Services will be held at grave side in Calvary Cemetery on 1405 S. 24 Av. on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 11AM with military honors.
