I met Joe I believe it was in 1998! I had a service order to work on his Telephone line in Walden. I knocked on his door and no answer. I walked around back and he drove up in a boat. It was about 40 degrees and that guy had on shorts and a tank top. I knew right then this was a tough dude. After fixing his phone we talked about him being a football player and a Boxer! He gave me a poster of him and Terry Bradshaw and signed it for me. When I was leaving he told me if anyone messed with me to let him know and he would knock them out.. lol. I was devastated when I found out he had passed away. I know this is late but Prayers for his wife and family!

Dear Gracie,
I am shocked and saddened by Joe's death. I found out this morning when my brother told me that Joe had died. Joe and I had been friends for many years but in the last ten years had drifted apart. I often thought of Joe with a lot of love. He was a very special man to me and to many others. He will always hold a special place in my heart. I am so grateful that he had someone like you to count on in his last few years. I am so sorry for your loss. You, Joe and family will be in my prayers. Sincerely, Bob Josey

Dear Gracie:
Joe is now celebrating his life in Heaven!! And thanks to you he lived his last few years happy as he told everyone that he has finally living with the woman he has always loved!! Joe has fought his battle after his accident with such joy simply because he had you!! You were his love of his life!! I was there 2 weeks before Joe died and he repeatly told me how much he loved you and how happy he was with you!! He had made his peace with what he was dealing with after the accident and was embracing everyday with joy cause he had you from the minute he opened his eyes and he knew he was taken care by you!! I had so much fun visiting with him...Angie and I visited until 4:00 AM....he was full of stories and he was such a joy to be with!! I'm so thankful that God gave me this opportunity to be there before he left to see his Savior!! Gracie....you had a great love...now it's time to continue to celebrate his life in everything we do everyday!! Joe was a generous and loving person that we will never forget!!

To the McNeely family. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. I will always have fond memories of Joe. Joe had a heart of gold. He was always there for me. He was like a brother to me. And for that, I'm sorry I haven't seen him for a while. But know this I loved him dearly and always will. The Aposle Paul said, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. So I know that Joe is now free from a broken body and dancing on streets of Gold.

Tammy,
I just wanted to let you know that you and your family are in my prayers. Indeed your father is now walking with God and all the angels. I never got to meet him, but I know from reading all the other entries that he was a wonderful person and very much loved. Even more so, he brought forth a beautiful and kind daughter like yourself. May we all strive to live out our lives to the fullest as he did. Love, Ai-Van

Just last month Joe called me and he talked like the "old" Joe (before his accident). His voice was strong and he was in such a good mood. I was so excited to hear that he was doing well. Needless to say, this was a shock when Sheila told me the news. I remember a time(long time ago) when Joe and I would argue and fight just as siblings do; we finally moved beyond that and became very good friends. I loved him just like he was my own brother, and he was a very good friend. He will be truly missed. My prayers go out to all of his family and many other friends. I love you guys; be there for each other.
Love,
Bernice Hutchins

Gracie, I am so sorry for your loss! I know you and Joe were soulmates and you were his "love of his life" he always said. Keep all those beautiful memories of him alive. You were with him 24/7 the last four years a love that most people dont know and what happens behind closed doors. You are truly an angel to love your husband so very much unconditionally. Thats a "GOD'S LOVE" I know you are hurting and will hurt even more when everything sets in place. Please know we love you and are praying for you. Joe was very happy the last four years of his life, he told me and it was only because of is wife. Joe's spirit will always live in you, forever. We love you Joe, and will miss you. Gracie, you are a very special woman, with a heart of gold. Keep smiling, Joe would want that and remember how much he adored you! God Bless

Dear McNeely Family, Our pray go out to you all. We were sad to hear that your dad passed away. We will always remember our neighbor "Mr. Joe". The man who before the accident always was on turtle patrol. Every evening, we would hear him shooting at those turtles out behind his house that were swimming around in his lake eating his fish. We would say "There is Mr. Joe on Turtle Patrol". We will also never forget after his accident how happy it made him that Kelly would drive him around in the mule checking all the fences and visting us. He was always so happy to visit and loved it when we visited. I especially love how he loved our children, Cheyanne and Cody. We will miss him and will always treasure our memories of "Mr. Joe". God Bless you Mr. Joe.

May you all have many good memories to help you through these difficult times. I spent many of my younger years with Joe and I miss those times and will always keep those memories close to my heart. Much time has passed and much water has gone under the bridge. May Joe rest in peace in a far better place. Gena, Tammy and Lacey I have known you since you were.......well, before Tammy and Lacey were even born. I am truly sorry for your loss. You and your mother will always have a special place in my heart. I do not know nor have I met Joseph, but I am sure that Joe was proud to have you for a son and I am sure his love is with you. Patsy and Jerry my thoughts and prayers are with you, may God bless you all.
