Dr. Joe F. Mock, 81, of Huntington, passed away in St. Mary’s Medical Center after a brief illness August 28, 2009. It was one day after what would have been his 54th. wedding anniversary. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2009 by Dr. Allen Reasons at Klingel Carpenter Mortuary, Huntington. Interment will follow in Ashland Cemetery, Ashland, KY. Joe was born July 24, 1928 in Ashland, KY., son of the late Joseph T. and Monsie Wurtz Mock. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami and earned his Masters Degree and Ph.D from the University of Kentucky. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Joe and his wife owned and operated Aladdin’s Art Gallery in Ashland. He was a retired Huntington psychologist and was one of the first to set up a private practice in West Virginia. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Jackie Doyle Mock. He leaves behind a son and daughter: Joe Mock and his wife Janie Mock of Round Rock, TX and Mary Mock Johnson and her husband Rob Johnson of Huntington, WV. He also leaves behind two grandchildren whom he adored, Joseph Mock and Ginny Johnson. In lieu of flowers, you may honor him by donating to the Huntington Area Habitat for Humanity. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2009 at the funeral home.
