Joe was an inspiration for all of us that worked with him. What an angel. He was so funny at times. You could be dog tired and in three words, you could barely hear, he would have you laughing so hard your ribs would hurt.

Joe and I lived on the same block on Greenland Drive during preschool and during the early grades at Training School. Our Dads both worked with MTSC athletics, so the gym was a second home where we grew up playing basketball often with college students. He was always the quiet type, but never seemed to get in trouble with teachers (unlike me). It didn’t surprise me when he married one of the prettiest girls at Central High. I left Murfreesboro after college, and we only saw each other a few times. Joe’s death was a shock considering his workout ethic, and it goes to show, health can be elusive. I read where his younger sister died earlier , and she was very athletic. His sisters Suzanne and Melinda(deceased) were friends with my older brother Joe. I will miss him!

I worked with Joe for years. He was an avid Blue Raider fan. We worked together at the Post Office for years. He always talked about his family and working at the Y and Sportscom. Last time I saw Joe was at Kroger on Memorial. We chatted for a bit. Sad to see him go. RIP Mr Patty, TRUE BLUE.

I am very sad to hear of Joe’s passing and sorry for your and your family’s loss. Libby, I pray for you and your family’s comfort and peace. Joe was a great Christian man, friend and servant for the lord. Each time I saw Joe whether at church or out and about he would greet me with his great smile and being in his presence would bring me joy and happiness. I came to learn when Joe said, “How are you doing”, he didn’t mean, “Hello”, he truly wanted to know if you were doing okay. Joe showed love to and cared about others and he will be greatly missed and will always be in my heart and memory.
Our love,
Ralph and Jean Adams
