Joel C Goldstein

Joel C. Goldstein died on February 18 while vacationing with friends in the Caribbean. He was born on leap day, 1948, to Esther and Harold Goldstein; the youngest of 3 boys. He grew up in Arlington, Virginia where he attended Yorktown High School. It was there that he met Barbara Parkin. They both headed from Arlington to attend the University of Wisconsin. Barbara and Joel were married in 1972, after which he started dental school at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. After graduating from dental school, Joel pursued a career in the Navy, which took the family to Norfolk, Virginia. He returned to Northern Virginia in 1977 where Joel practiced dentistry with colleagues before establishing his own practice in the late 1990's. He is survived by brothers Arthur and Bruce; daughters Rachel and Dara; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the National Funeral Home on March 12, 2019 at 11 am followed by lunch at Dara's home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Human Rights Campaign.
