Joel Kenneth Harmer, 43, of Spanish Fork passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 17, 2008. He was born December 18, 1964 in Payson, Utah to Kenneth W. and Elaine Simmons Harmer. Joel graduated from Spanish Fork High School where he lettered in wrestling. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served a mission to Hartford, Connecticut and has served in many leadership positions, currently in the Stake Young Men's Presidency.

Joel married his eternal companion, Diane Sheffield, on June 6, 1986 in the Provo LDS Temple.
They were blessed with three wonderful children, Chet, Chase, and Charlee. He was a loving husband and father, and he adored being with his family and participating in many family activities. He will be missed greatly.

Joel served in the scouting organization for over 20 years. He coached little league wrestling, and was involved in 4-H and served as a leader. He loved the outdoors and was an expert Dutch Oven cook. He enjoyed 4 wheeling and was a member of the Red Rock 4-wheelers group in Moab and participated in the Jeep Safari. He worked at Klune Industries.

He is survived by his loving wife, Diane; and children, Chet, Chase, and Charlee, all of Palmyra; mother, Elaine Harmer, Palmyra; and sisters, Jackie (Bob) Morgan; Murray; DaNelle (Jim) Long, Springville; Wendy (Alan) McBride, Midvale; and Trudy (Todd) Mair, Paradise. Joel is also survived by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Palmyra Ward Chapel, 1866 West 5000 South. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, 187 S. Main, Spanish Fork, or on Thursday morning at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
