Johannes Leonardes "John" Gouw

Johannes "John" Leonardes Gouw was born in Delft, Netherlands, March 6, 1931, to Jacob and Johanna Gouw. He ended his life's journey and went to live with his heavenly Father friday, jan. 29, 2010.John came to America in 1955 to start a new life. He found a job as a transportation specialist. He retired in the early 1990s and lived in Friendship, Tenn. John enjoyed reading, listening to music and traveling. On a trip to Oklahoma in 1998, he met Margie Farmer, who became his best friend and companion.In March 2003, John had a stroke and had lived since then at Glenhaven Nursing Home in Chickasha. He always had a smile for his many friends among the staff and residents. John was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a daughter, all of Delft, Netherlands, and an infant son of Pennsylvania, who welcomed him home at the end of his journey. He is survived by his friend, Margie Farmer, three daughters, two sons, many grandchildren, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and close friends from around the world. John will be missed.John has been cremated. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, in the Bradley Community Center, Bradley, Okla. The Rev. Cletis Lee will officiate.
