John Abdo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 23 to Mar. 24, 2007.
John Abdo 88, parked his last truck on March 20, 2007. John was born in Thompson, Iowa on June 2, 1918 to Charles and Thelma Abdo. He was a lifelong 'Teamster'. He was also a great family man. Dad retired from Century Motor Freight in 1981. During his time there he won membership in the 1,000,000 mile Safety Club. He also belonged to the 'Mack' Truck Club of drivers who put over 100,000 miles on a single truck without major maintenance. The 'Driver of the Month' in Minnesota was given to Dad in January, 1979 and November, 1980. One of the more important lessons he instilled in us was 'It does not matter what you do, just be the best at it'. Mom and Dad both belonged to Holy Rosary Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline; sons, Daniel and Gary; parents; and siblings, Jim, Mose, Mary, Jenny, Joe, Lena, Mike and Helen. He is survived by his children, Thomas (Linda) Abdo of Duluth, Russell (Betty) Abdo of Duluth, Judy (Steve) Crockette of Cottage Grove, Minn., Cathy (Don) Letourneau of Duluth; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL:10 a.m. Monday in the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary. Visitation 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday with Rosary Recitation at 4:30 p.m. in Dougherty Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Holy Rosary School. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E. 2nd St, Duluth, MN 55805, 218-727-3555.

Dear Russ,Tom,Judy & Cathy,

We always enjoyed your Dad. He always welcomed us with a smile! He also was always excited to hear about how we were doing and what was new with us. One of our favorite times when when we spent about 45 minutes with him back in 2001 at Don and Cathy's house when only John was home (one on one time). It was a great memory for us. He will be always missed! Love, Scott, De Ann, Gracie, Rosie and Faith Letourneau
