John Agar Obituary
Noted long time actor, John Agar, 81, passed away April 7, 2002 at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank after a lengthy illness. The oldest of four children, John was born January 31, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois to John G. and Lillian R. Agar. After graduation from the Pauling School in New York, he volunteered in the Army Air Corps and served until honorably discharged in 1945. John married Shirley Temple in 1945 and had one child, a daughter, Linda Susan. In 1954 John married Loretta Barnett who preceded him in death in January 2000. They had two sons, Martin David and John Agar III. John's professional life was spent in the theatre, appearing in more than 60 motion pictures and television productions. He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild and A.F.T.R.A. Two brothers survive him, James R. Agar of Norman, Oklahoma and Frank M. Agar of Midland, Texas, his two sons, daughter and four grandchildren. Private services for the family will be held. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to one's favorite charity.
