John Allison (Al) Wilson

John Allison (Al) Wilson, recently of Cumming and formerly of Dawsonville, Georgia, passed away on 07/19/2023. Al was born at home on 06/24/1922 in Richland, Georgia, to the late John Henry Wilson and Sarah Tompkins Wilson.

A lifelong resident of Georgia, he leaves behind a legacy of honor and dedication. He attended North Georgia College in Dahlonega, then graduated from the University of Georgia. During World War II, he enlisted, serving in the United States Army, then in the Army Air Force. He enjoyed an interesting and distinguished career as a Special Agent in the Intelligence Division of the IRS, specializing in investigating organized crimes. He enjoyed attending stock car races and loved attending Georgia Bulldog games. He was a lifelong bridge player which evolved into tournament bridge where he became a Life Master. He combined his bridge playing with his love of travel, driving to numerous States and exploring over thirty countries around the world, some multiple times.

Survivors include his wife Merilyn Wilson; his daughter, Pat Wilson; two stepdaughters, Tina Moore and Sheila Moore. A private burial service will be held at Sardis Cemetery in Richland, Georgia.
