I only knew John a short time. He was a very nice, genuine person and a force on the jiu jitsu mats. He spoke often of his family and was made a part of ours during his short visit to Temple. I as well as all my teammates are better people for having shared time with him. People like John can light up a room and he will be missed. Rest Easy Brother.

My deepest sympathy and heart goes out to you Johnny's family. My memories are when he was a little boy, he was a cute little guy with such a happy disposition. He brought joy to my parents who just loved babysitting. Sending our love and many prayers for God's comfort.

John served with the Army's 301st PSYOP Co. a Tactical Airborne unit and deployed to Iraq in 2004 mostly in Baquba, Diyala and Najaf during the Mehdi Army uprising. His priority was always his wife and family. We are all very sad to hear of his passing. I can't even think of him ever not getting along with anyone else. He was a really good guy.

My fondest memories of John were when he discussed his wife and sons. His face would light up when he spoke of his boys. He was very proud of them. I will miss John and am praying for his family. May God embrace each of you in His loving arms. God bless you all.
