John Charles Augello, 81, passed on to his heavenly reward on April 30th, 2024. John served his country for four years in the United States Navy aboard the USS Luce and USS Vogelgesang. After his honorable discharge he earned his BS in Criminal Justice from the University of Rochester and became a law enforcement officer specializing in youth offenders. He retired as a sergeant after serving for 30 years in the Rochester Police Department. After retirement, John and his loving wife Regina settled in Citrus County, Florida where they have lived together happily for many years.

John was a devoted son, husband, father, and friend whose interests included tennis, racquetball, "Jeopardy!", all kinds of movies, travel, and spending time with his family.

He is predeceased by his parents Charles and Jane Augello, sister Roseanne and her husband Mike Simonelli, and his nephew Mark Simonelli.

John is survived by wife Regina; sons John (Mary Sue) Augello and Jason (Vicki) Augello; Jason (Tara) Gorton, Jarrod (Kate) Gorton, and Jeffrey Gorton Rasmussen; grandchildren Katelynn Augello, Jacob and Ashley Augello, Liam, Emma, and Rohan Gorton, Hazel and Lily Gorton, Parker and Abigail Rasmussen; sisters Carmen (Frank) Faber and Charlene (Tim) LaBreck; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral mass will be held at The Parish of the Holy Family, 4100 Lyell Road, Rochester, NY on August 24th at 11 AM. Interment at Holy Ghost Cemetery will be held at a later date. Donations in John's memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
