John Franklin Auman

John Franklin Auman, 76, of Onalaska and Glenoma, passed away on March 4, 2008. John was born in Mona County, Iowa, on Dec. 7, 1931 to Lesley and Vera (Pauley) Auman. John was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Morton, WA.
As a child, he moved with his family to Washington State. He grew up in a close, loving home with his parents and 10 siblings, the largest settling family in the old Kosmos area. At the tender age of 15, he embraced his lifelong career as logger in Eastern Lewis County and Willow Creek, CA, where he met his devoted wife in 1955.
He worked for various timber companies, including Latimer and Sons and Joe Zumstein Logging where he was a side-rod on high lead, a high climber, and also a heavy equipment operator.
He endured but loved the long hours of farming and especially enjoyed raising cattle, horses, and mules. John delighted in putting in the hay. Dixon Mountain will always miss John and his sons with the free range cattle. Some of his happiest times were bear, deer, and elk hunting and fishing; he loved the outdoors. John was a very generous man, always helping others; he had countless friends.
John treasured every moment with his family; they were the reason for his existence. He leaves behind his loving wife, Flora Auman, three sons and their spouses: Denver and Pam Auman, Mark Auman and Kathy Blake, Johnny and Teriann Auman, and Robin Auman, deceased. He has eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. John's loving brothers and sister as follows: Alfred Loveland, Lawrence Loveland, Pat Loveland, Jim and Betty Auman of Wenatchee; Nora Compton, PeEll; Odis Auman, Chehalis; Dorothy Blakely, Port Angles; Bob and Naomi Auman, Onalaska; Neal and Bev Auman, Onalaska; Kenny Auman, Randle. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Alfred, Lawrence, and Pat; son Robin; and grandson Justin.
Services will be held at The Church at Glenoma, Glenoma Rd. and Hwy 12, Glenoma, WA; 11:00 a.m. Sat., March 8, 2008. A graveside service will immediately follow at the Ethel Cemetery, Onalaska, WA. A potluck gathering will follow the services at Mark and Kathy's, 8052 Hwy 12, Glenoma.
