John, a man of TRUE GRIT. We had great conversations about our favorite TV shows and laughed at how silly they were but not when we were kids. I am honored to have met John and his wonderful family.

I met John only five 5 or six years ago. He was extremely friendly and easy to talk with. We were both born in Medford and grew up at the same time, he was in Fulton Heights and me in Medford Hillside. He was a historian of Medford Youth hockey. I believe he was one of the founders. John always had a kind word for people and I consider it an honor to have known him for this short time. May the family's happy memories help in dealing with your loss.

My favorite memory with my papa is when we use to dance to the hot dog song! I am sad but when I see his empty room I know I will see him again one day. and for now I can snuggle with his teddy and think of the good memories like how he use to make duck sounds or even when he saved a life he was hero and that´s why he is such a good person. He would put his life in danger so now one got hurt. He would always ask how soccer is doing and dance. Plus I remember my dad bring in my papa in at my dance recital while I was dancing. He was the best papa ever and now he´s in peace even though I miss him love you papa

I Support ALS one see you some day papa love you!!

I first met John in Newport. Our group of friends have so many fond memories of how John was always ready to help. Of course, he was king of the barbecue! We shared many great times at the beach, reading our books and enjoying the sun and surf. We shared many meals and lots of laughs. A true Gentle Man, so kind to everyone. He loved his family with his BIG Heart. His love for his soulmate and partner in life, Jan, was so deep and sweet. My love and prayers are with the family.

I am so very sorry, Shayna. My heart breaks for all of you and I am keeping you and your entire family in my heart and prayers. Your sweet dad was so lucky to have such an incredible family of support and he'll always be in my heart as we work to end ALS. Here for all of you always.

While training to be an inspector my brother passed in Fl. and John showed compassion and empathy to me in my loss! He said family comes first! He also fought for me when a supervisor wanted to take me out of the training program because of my bereavement and leave to bury my brother! Thank you John for caring about me in my time of grief!

Over the last almost 50 years, I remember John was always a warm friendly uncle and a loving dad who loved to be around family.
I remember him taking me out fishing, he was very encouraging and positive instructor! We would always talk about guy things like hockey, jets, fish and movies. One thing he would relate is how he appreciated hikes in the Fells/woods after fresh snow fall or in autumn.
He will be missed!
My love to the whole family.

I´ve known John for 60+ years, first as a friend to Bernie Costello and later as the love of Jan´s life! What a wonderful life they had; vacations always centered around the family, skiing, Disney, beach trips, and then, later on, taking care of his dad. His family was the essence of John´s life and he was a great father, husband, brother and son. He was always kind and welcoming to others, including myself. I have such great memories of summers in Newport and dinners with friends and just having fun. He was there when you needed him. I can say truthfully that he is the best man I´ve known in my life!
Rest in peace John...love you!

John was 8 years my senior and friends with my cousin Bernie. He joined us once on one of our many family trips to Rockport. Bernie drove, Jan was at "shotgun" and John and I in the rear of the "Buckboard" (an old rambler station wagon) . He didn't mind being stuck in the back seat with a little kid, instead he made it a fun ride for me. That's my first of many wonderful memories of John.

Playing in the SLAPHEAD golf tournaments down the cape at Bay Pointe. What fun we all had.
