Kansas City, Missouri - John T Baughman, 76, of Kansas City, MO, passed peacefully on January 26th, 2023 after a short, tough battle of esophageal cancer.
John was born May 5th, 1946 to Earl and Betty Baughman in Audubon, IA. John graduated from Leon High School in 1964, then moved to Kansas City, MO.
In 1966, John married Janet Dickens and went on to have three children, Stacey, John Michael, and Sandra. John and Janet divorced in 1991, but remained close friends until her passing in 2020.
After settling down, John started his job at Hallmark Cards where he worked in machinary maintenance, kickstarting a 34 year career.
John was a jack of all trades. After retiring from Hallmark in 2001, John became a part-time handyman. He was hardworking and liked to keep busy. He loved spending time with friends and family and being with his long-time girlfriend, Connie DePee. John also loved being at his farm in Iowa, classic cars, traveling, reading, watching westerns, and visits from his kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
John is proceeded in death by his parents, Earl and Betty Baughman, brothers Jerry and Jim Baughman, and brother-in-law Jerry Laswell. He is survived by his girlfriend Connie DePee, his children Stacey Pendergrast and son-in-law Tom Pendergrast, John M Baughman, and Sandra Baughman. Grandkids Nikki Pendergrast and spouce Kenny Bauer, Teela Pendergrast and spouce Greg Maudlin, Chris Pendergrast, Hailey Baughman, and Elizabeth Baughman and spouse Sam Sizemore-Dietrich. Great grandkids Chase, Gavin, Cayden, Bryce, and Lilianna. Sisters Doris Laswell, Barbara Rickets, Melody Dale and brother-in-law Kenny Dale, and Lucy Dooly and brother-in-law Dale Dooley. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services will be held at a later date, please contact family for arrangements.

I've known John for over forty years. He was a great friend to me and was always there when things were down. I will miss him very much.

I grew up a couple blocks away from John,we went to school together and graduated together in 1965. He was a super nice guy. Thoughts and prayers for all his family.
