John Bellino Obituary
He was born May 22, 1911, in New York City, the son of Angelo and Rose (Toro) Bellino. In 1919, the family traveled to upstate New York in the Catskill Mountains. There, his father and mother bought a farm on Pink Street in Bovina Center. In 1933, John's father returned to Italy, leaving the farm to John.
John married Marguerite Bush on April 29, 1935. He and Marguerite raised five children there.
John retired in 1975, after a successful career as a dairy farmer and moved his family to Shokan, where he spent time woodworking. He crafted many things for his children and grandchildren from the shop in the back of his garage.
Marguerite died in 1993, and John later moved to Delhi to live with his daughter, Joan.
He is survived by two sisters, Margerite Nigido and Frances Bonemico of Brooklyn; four children, Rose (Dwight) Brockway of Florida, Joan LaFever of Delhi, Marjorie Sackett (Frank) Peck of Delhi and Debbie (Tom) Hulse of Florida; grandchildren, Dan (Laurie) Brockway, Jerry (Marge) Brockway, Andy (Karen) Brockway of Boulder, Colo., Mark (Sue) LaFever of Sherburne, Dwain (Karen) LaFever of Delhi, Richard John (Lisa) Sackett of Delhi, Joseph Sackett of Delhi and Tracy (Jeremy) Dean of Hamden; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to being predeceased by his wife, Marguerite; a son, John; two brothers, Joe and Paul; one sister, Lucy DeBellis; and a great-grandson, Dominic Sackett, predeceased him.
Calling hours will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at the Sacred Heart Church, Stamford, with the Rev. Joseph X. Arockiasamy as celebrant.
Burial will take place in Andes Cemetery, Andes.
Contributions are asked to be made to the Delhi Senior Meals Site, 6 Court St., Delhi, NY 13753.
Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home of Delhi.
