Passed away April 3, 2009 in Rancho Palos Verdes. He was born July 10, 1948 in Dragove, Dugi Otok, Croatia and was a 40 year resident of San Pedro. John was a mechanical engineer with Star Kist Foods for many years. He is survived by his wife, Meri; sons, Jim (Danielle) and John (Marlaina) Bijelic; brother, Mario (Danica) Bijelic; sister, Jagoda (Ivan) Began; grandchildren, Keiana, Kylie and Aidan; stepchildren, Biagia and Anthony Lauro; nieces and nephews, Kristina (Charles) Clark, Sandra (Ernie) Beutler, Sinisa (Adriana) Bijelic and Allen Began; many cousins, great-nieces, nephews and in-laws in the United States and Croatia. A funeral mass will be offered on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, 9:30 a.m. at Mary Star of the Sea Church. Entombment will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park. Donations may be made in John's name to the American Diabetes Association. Visitation will be today, 4-8 p.m. at McNerney's Mortuary. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
