I still remember Mr. John's smile and the sound of his laugh even after all the time we have been away. He holds a special place in my childhood memories as well as the rest of your family. You have been and will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Love to you all.

Stephanie and Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. Dr. John was such a special person. When I came to Jefferson County in 1975 and opened a dental practice, he welcomed me with open arms. He provided me with information and support that was invaluable and respect as a colleague that always lifted me up.
Through Dentistry and many other avenues he left a strong positive mark on Jefferson County.
Love, Dr. Pat

John Blumer was a giant of a man in so many ways. I knew him as an uncle who served as a great role model during some tough times when I lost my father at an early age. He always commanded respect when he entered a room because of his strong presence. And I only wish I could be half the man he was at raising a family and treating his fellow man with kindness and love. Thanksgivings will never be the same again without Uncle John and his fried turkeys and funny stories.
With much love to Aunt Stef and family,

Memories---I have so many. He taught--I learned. I believed everything Dr. Blumer said, whether it was true or not. I also believe Dr. Blumer knew every cliche' in the book, I find myself using a lot of them and remembering him when I do! What a wonderful homecoming he is enjoying right now! He will be missed, but he is waiting for you and me and I look forward to seeing him again. Stephanie--to you, Dr. Blumer and your family--Thanks for the memories! I love you all.

OUR FEELINGS IN TIME OF SORROW
God saw that he was getting tired
and a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around him
and whispered, "Come with Me!"
With tearful eyes we watched him suffer
and saw him fade away.
Although we loved him dearly,
we could not make him stay.
A Golden heart stopped being;
hard working hands came to rest;
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.

John was one of the first people I met when I arrived at Emory Dental School. He was dorm proctor of the dorm I was assigned to. We were all scared to death of what we were facing, but John told us to relax and that we could get through it and he would be there for us. He was generous with his help and I will never forget his kindness. I'm sorry for your loss.
