I just want to say, thank you all for leaving what you remember of my uncle. He was a really great and would put a smile on everyone's face. I'm one of his nephews Blaise Bohaker. One thing i remember of him is that he used to always bring beer for the holidays. He was a very up-beat kind of guy with tons of energy. I just wished I was able to say goodbye to him for the last time. I love ya uncle bongos, and we all will see you when we get up there.

I would like to send condolences to John's family. I was honored to work with him at Westfield State University for a period a few years back. He was a great co-worker and an excellent cook! I enjoyed hearing the stories about playing live music. I saw him just a few weeks ago when they were getting ready to close up for the semester when I went for dinner. He always had a smile and kind words to say. He will be missed here on this earth.

I knew John since middle school. We would jam together over the years and worked together at Goombas. I would usually see him at concerts and parties. He was always so genuine and had great conversations about music. He let me borrow a dream theater album and I was hooked. I remember when he cut his hair off and I gave him so much crap. I will miss him dearly as he was such a kind individual that wanted people to smile.

As a student at Westfield state John always brought a smile to my face. He was welcoming and kind, always made the best food on the grill. He´d always give me recommendations when I wasn´t sure what to eat, I remember the last meal he recommended to me was his marinated chicken 10/10!! He was a great cook, great person, and I loved hearing about the band that he was in, I wish I got the chance to go to one of his shows. A very cheerful and kind guy, he will be missed. My condolences to his family, rest easy John.

I´ll always remember walking into the dining hall 10 min before closing. Just to sit there and talk to john about how the day had gone, his new ideas, or what ever next show he had coming up. It will never be the same without him. Rest easy john

As a student at Westfield State I´ve had the pleasure of meeting John. He was such a kind man and even though he didn´t speak many words to me, I could see his kindness through his smile and his eyes. May his soul rest easy. And may the family of Mr. Bowen heal and process this tragedy with peace in their heart knowing that John truly brought a smile to many faces at Westfield.

As a student at Westfield State University, I can confidently speak for all other students when I say John genuinely cared for us. He always made sure to ask us how our days were, always had a smile on his face, and he even cooked us special food; especially his quesadillas on Thursday. Sending prayers to John´s family and those who knew him.

I go to Westfield State University, and didn't know him personally, but John was a good man. No matter when we came to the DC, if he was working he would make sure we had fresh food, and would make special dishes during the week because in his words "you guys deserve good food and to have a nice meal". Staying loyal to his job, and always having a joke or a smile, his family should be beyond proud of the man he was. Always putting the students first, while making sure to give each day and his job all he's got. With that, I give my deepest condolences to the family, and those close to John.

I worked with Johnny at WSU dining hall for the last few years and he never failed to make your day with his contagious smile! I worked in the clean eats station next to the grill most of the time and during our down time or slow moments, he always had stories to tell or a joke to crack. He also always was there to greet you with a smile and make your day, even when you were having a bad one. Being a student supervisor, I was stressed a lot, but one joke from Johnny and I couldn´t help but smile, even just for a few moments. He will certainly be missed. My condolences to the family rest in peace beautiful soul

He was my son´s best friend. They met in Pre-K in Granby, Ct back in 1988, they were 5 years old. They were both huge wrestling fans over the years. They would always get together and watch pay per view!
I´m so glad that John was my son´s friend and that I got to know him! We love you John! We will all see each other again one day!
God promises that!
Love,
Kim and Jimmy Hayes

My sincerest condolences to all of you, Barb, Michelle, Erik, Rebecca, Nik and Roxanne. You all are in my thoughts and prayers as you mourn such a loss. John, I´m so honored to have been present in your life, especially during the high school years. You were one of the few who was always true to himself and knew exactly who you were, even at a young age. I haven´t seen you much over the past decade or 2, but when I did run into you, it´s like no time had passed. Your warmth and kindness emanated and your bear hugs were so comforting. You touched so many lives in more ways than you know by just being you. You´ll be deeply missed.

I've been friends with Nik since 93' so I've been friends with John just as long. I'de spent many nights sleeping over your house growing up but the best time was sharing a room with John at Niks in Florida. The kind heart of this family had taken me in to try something new and good ole Johnny was my roommate. I remember every moment , thank God we didn't have camera phones then..lol.. I loved you like a lil bro of my own and will continue to remember you.

Johnny said I was always family, to lose a brother like him is devastating. He was always funny, constantly the "right type of pain," and a joy to know at all. And as he always was sure to remind me, he had the best hair of us all.
