Reta, Paul and family,
I remember back in the early eighties wanting so badly to bring one of my girls to NS to breed to one of your Blois's beautiful boys but the distance was just too great at the time. Blois was so loved and appreciated as a mentor within this GSD Breed. So many will miss him and his antics.

Reta, John, Paul and Greg; I just heard today of your loss and am very sorry for you and to have missed the service. Mr. Boyd was a mountain of a man in many , many ways and his passing leaves a huge void - not only in your lives but in lives and communities all over the province and country. I will never look at a Shepherd and not think of him.

My deepest sympathy to the family - I remember visiting at the family home in Portaupique with my father, Logan Lewis, and remember Dad and Blois together, they were good friends. And I remember Blois taking me out to see the new puppies. All good memories. It's a very long time since I've seen any of the family but I have good memories going back to my childhood and I extend my deepest sympathies to all the Boyd family.

Your loss is shared and I will miss my Uncle Blois more than words can say. He has been a strong presence in my life since he first let me walk one of his dogs when I was just a child. I was so proud to have the opportunity to take this great big dog for a walk up and down the big hill behind my Grandfather's farm. And thus began my love for the German Shepherd dog and my gratitude to my uncle who introduced me to these intensely loyal and intelligent dogs. A person who loved these dogs so much, must be so special. I have owned shepherds most of my life now, the majority of them Blackcrest dogs…and as a result, I am never alone and even as I write this, my trusty companion, Q , my current Blackcrest female shepherd sits adoringly beside me watching my every move.
Not surprising then that the traits that Blois valued so highly were friendship and loyalty…exactly what is so very inherent in the German Shepherd. These things he also gave to his deserving “people oh so generously, along with a reality check if needed and a stern reprimand if required, all topped off with a twinkle of the eye and an ever so discrete smile, that if you weren't watching for it, you would miss. I always waited and watched for that smile.
Blois was never a phone call away, and even though I lived in Ottawa, we spoke regularly and I always made sure we exchanged “I love you at the end of each conversation, not because of the words, but because of the truth of the words. With Blois, as with my Shepherds, I never felt alone. I remember a time when I was feeling particularly despondent and called him just to chat. He was not available, so I left a message. Within a very short timeframe, he called me back to see how I was doing...and I was so very appreciative that he called me back so quickly, obviously sensing that I needed him. And I did…and he was there. And he didn't pry, but just offered an ear and care and love. What more could a niece half way across the country ask for…
I will miss him terribly, but each time I look at my dog, I will remember him with love, loyalty and friendship. Thank you Blois, for being such a important part of my life. I love you, rest well, you have earned it.

So many memories - one of my favourites being Blois "sneaking" doughnuts to my daughter Sheila at Enfield Fun Match - they were both having great fun:-) He will be missed by so many people - he touched so many lives.
