John Brereton Obituary
Energetic husband, father, brother, and friend slipped unexpectedly into the outstretched arms of his loving Heavenly Father on April 23, 2008. John was born May 20, 1971 in Payson, Utah to Jayne Brereton Jacobson and John Austin Brereton. John married his eternal companion Sara Corry on June 20, 1992 in Manti, Utah Temple for time and all eternity. John and Sara have four children, Hayden, Corry, Madison, and Sydnee.
John loved his family and was extremely devoted to his children. He would put his busy life on hold for his wife and children. John loved the outdoors always placing himself in the mountains on his dirt bike or skateboarding with his boys. John was able to make friends with everyone and anyone he came in contact. All who knew him could not help but like him because of his ability to make them smile and laugh. John had the most positive attitude and he never allowed the challenges and trials of life to stop him. John loved playing softball with his brothers and friends each year in Payson. John was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He loved his Heavenly Father and knew of the great plan of salvation.
John is proceeded in death by his father John Austin Brereton, Grandparents Clifton and Elaine Brereton; Thomas and Avanelle McKeand. John is survived by his eternal and loving wife Sara, his children Hayden John, Corry David, Madison Karla, and Sydnee Lynn. His mother Jayne Jacobson, step-mother Ilene Jones Brereton, sister Dena (Ron) Raven, Spanish Fork, step sisters Lisa Mecham, Spanish Fork, Jeena Ortiz, Payson, Lyla Jackson, Fillmore. His parents-in-law James and Karla Corry, Santaquin, Brother and sister-in-laws, Roger (Liz) Corry, Clinton, Karlene(James) Stanley, Santaquin, Julie (John) Beebe, Mesa, Az., Brent (Karen) Corry, Santaquin, Jay (Amanda) Corry, Santaquin, Matthew (Amy) Corry, Fountain Green, Mary (Josh) Underhill, Lehi, Krystal (Casey) Webb, Spanish Fork.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 26, 2008 at the old Stake Center, 90 South 200 East in Santaquin, Utah. Friends and family may call Friday evening at the Holladay-Brown Funeral Home 66 South 300 East Santaquin, Utah, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. or Saturday morning at the church from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the members of the Santaquin 5th ward in the help they administered to Sara and the children.
In lieu of flowers, a trust has been set up for the Brereton children at Zions Bank.

Babe,
Its been just over a month since you were called over to serve with our heavenly Father. But it seems like an eternity, I miss everything about you ,our taiks your hands, smile your beautiful hazel eyes and most of all the great happiness and joy you brought into my life always making all my dreams come true. I just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss. John was an amazing guy who considered me part of the family, which I will be forever grateful for. He took me and Hayden and little Sydney, to our first scary movie, which is just one of the many memories I will have of him. I know that John will still be there cheering for us and yelling at the umps in baseball. I am always here for all of you,

I still cant believe that you are gone. Things will never be the same without you. You were a great brother and friend. Even though I never said it I hope you know that I loved you. John was a man that lived life to the fullest. He worked hard and played hard. He never let his daily struggles keep him down or did he use them as excuses. I am happy that he is not burdened now with illness. I do know that he misses his family dearly. That he is spending as much time as he can checking-up on them. And we will see him again. I miss John and wish that I could thank him now for all the great things he did for me. John was and is still a great Father, Husband, son and friend.

I have been thinking of what I should write about my brother John David Brereton it is sad that we wait until someone has passed to tell them how much we care about them and how much we look up to them I am amazed on how much John got done on this earth in such a short time he was always going some where or doing something with his family he never felt very good and yet he was always there helping someone move or someone with a computer problem coaching his kids John lived a whole life in half the time it takes us normal people too John lived for his wife and kids they are his everything and was willing to do anything to make them happy I honestly don't know if I ever said the words I love you John but I do know this I said it in my owne way with a punch in the arm or a joke about his hair line or his growing gut but I will say it now I love you John and miss you daily you are a great husband ,father and brother we are blessed to have known and be loved by you thank you for taking care of my big sis no goodbye just see you later

Naomi Evans wanted me to let your family know how much his kindness helped her. When her brother died in Alaska, they had no idea how she was going to get up there when John offered her his miles for a plane ticket. That is just the kind of man that he was, always willing to do anything for anyone, whether he knew them well or not. Sara, we love you and will do anything we can to help.

oh how i miss you, i remember the week before you died we were having a talk with you and my mom...and i never thought that it would be the last time that i ever saw you agian. It ment alot to me when you told me that you care about me and you wished the best of luck with you and kameron. Uncle john i will never ever forget you! You really touched my heart. Sara, words cannot express the feelings I have at this time. We have been so blessed to have John part of our family, he has been like a son to us. I miss you so so so so much. Im Sad that you had to go, and your not here for me and you to play. I miss you taking me to the movies and to the store. I liked when you would play games with me and get me bug juices, and help me with my homework. He would always tease me and call me Hannah Montana, and then he would say Madison and start to dance and sing everybody makes mistakes everybody has those days, it was one of Hannah Montanas song he would even drive the van with his knees sometimes so he could sing and dance for me at the same time. Dear Dad,
I miss u and I remeber one night it was like twelve at night we went to the movies it was 007 it was good. And i miss him taking us to places and stuff he was a good father and a good freind to many. My dad would always make jokes with us kids we would go up to the conico and me and him were at the window and he would say my son thinks your cute and i didnt like it at times but i remember it so well it was like every time we went. But it got me mad at times but my dad was a great man he loved the family and he would always let me skip half of school we would go to mcdonald's and we would just drive around. He was always there for me when i needed him but he was there to with school and when u got a good grade he would give u money but when u got bad i would always get grounded from my cell phone but that is how life is. He has tought me to do so much stuff and with baseball he was there for me and everything like i said. We went to Arizona 2 months ago it was fun we had austin with us and we would mess around with him and my uncle john we would nock on the office door and we ran and he got mad but it was fun. What i miss about him the most is him always joking around with us and he made freinds with everyone and he would always would stay longer to talk even more. I loved to when he would take us to the one man band me and my brother and sisters and me and him would go in the morning before school with my Unkle'D he would always let me get what i want lol. i have met some knew people with my dad it was fun. and every monday night and Tuesday night me and corry and him would stay up and watch wwe it was so fun. we bought every paper view it was fun and he was the best father in the world he would always just be so friendly to everyone that is how everyone knows him and he was the best. For my birthday a couple months ago me and my friends and corry and my mom went to lazer assault we had so much fun. Also another time he took me and my cousins lazer tagging and we went to the steak house pizza to eat after it was so good and he would always make us his famous peanut butter oatmeal every sunday it was good.

I have alot of great memories with my uncle John. No matter what we were doing he always made it fun. A Few weeks before he died I had the opertunity to talk with him. I was taking my little sister down to his house on our four-wheeler. I ran out of gas. We walked down to his house and my sister went in to play.
I asked John if he had some gas I could use and of course he gave me some. He was in the middle of some work but he stopped and took the time to drive me to my four-wheeler. I loved John and I will miss him but I will never forget him and how he always put family before work.

Argh! Sara, There are no words, I don't know why but the one verse in the entire Bible that has brought me peace is Jesus in the garden. He cries out, "I am grieved to the point of death" I get that. Death is unnatural, it was not Gods intent that we shoud experience it, We are not wired spiritually to cope with it outside of Christ. There are still days, too many, when I feel as though my heart will break. You and John were such a beautiful couple and I'm sure your days will be similar to the ones I experience, Grieved to the point of death... If you want to cry, I'd love to cry with you. With all of my heart I want to say something comforting. But the truth is this is the hardest thing ever. I guess to understand that someone gets how you feel may be enough. You and your family are in our prayers. Yo need to let us know what your needs are as they come about and let us help as a church family if we can.

John was such a fun person. I can't think of a time when I ever saw him that he wasn't smiling and joking with the people around him and there were always people around him. I really admired the way he was able to relate to the YM/YW in our ward.
