John Brickey Jr.

BROADFORD, Va. – Mr. John Q. Brickey Jr., age 71, entered the kingdom of heaven Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at Valley Health Care Center after a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of Broadford. He was a member of Roberts Chapel Methodist Church. Junior was a retired school bus driver for Smyth County Schools. He was preceded in death by his father, John Q. Brickey Sr.
Survivors: his wife, Patsy Archer Brickey of Broadford; his mother, Cynthia J. Brickey of Broadford; one sister, Judy Carter and husband Al of Broadford; three brothers-in-law, Bill Archer and wife Juanita of Christiansburg, Va., Jerry Archer and wife Dawn of Charlotte, N.C., and David Archer and wife Suzanne of Marion; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Gullion and husband Bill of Marion and Debbie Rogers and husband Joe of Marion; several nieces and nephews and special cousins.
A celebration of Mr. Brickey's life will be conducted 8 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2005, at Henderson Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Starks, Rev. Scott Spence and Rev. Bill Cahill officiating. Committal services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Riverside Cemetery in Rich Valley. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m., just prior to the funeral service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Valley Health Care and also to Dr. Hale and Dr. Ceballos.
