On behalf of the Burton family, I would like to express our condolences to the Brooks family at this time of loss. John is fondly remembered to us as a great neighbor always looking out for Elsie which will always remain a comfort to us knowing help was always available to her when we were unable to be there. Our hearts are broken with you all at this time.

If I hadn't opened the Capital Gazette online, I don't know whenever I would have found out about John's death. But since I did, our deepest condolences to Mary Ellen. John was a great friend to us when we were in unstable circumstances and we'll never forget his kindly assistance. Rest in peace.

John was a great friend during tough High School years. I will always have fond memories of him, his V8 tapes, his step van. Rest in Peace, and someday we'll meet again.
