John Paul Brown

Kettle River, MN

Born February 28, 1957 Died May 20, 2025

John passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 20, 2025 at his home with his sister and brother by his side. John was born February 28, 1957 in St. Paul, Minnesota to parents George Miles Brown Sr. and Lorraine Maude Brown.

John was preceded in death by his father and mother George and Lorraine Brown, brother

David Brown, sister Catherine Lambert and brother-in-law Ken Schmidt.

He is survived by his sister JoAnn Schmidt, brothers Jim Brown (Sandy), George Brown Jr (Penny) and Thomas Brown, also his brother-in-law Larry Lambert, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

John graduated in 1975 from Alexander Ramsey High School in Roseville, Minnesota. He then attended Anoka County Technical College, graduating with a Machinist Degree. While living in Roseville, he served as a Volunteer Firefighter for the Roseville Fire Department for 10 years. From an early age, John was hooked on fishing. A photo with him and a friend, each holding a good-sized northern pike, was even featured in the St. Paul Pioneer Press! John also enjoyed sports and participated in Roseville Little League baseball teams as a youth and recreational softball teams as he got older. Another love John had was dirt biking. He would regularly tear up the turf on his mighty Hercules motocross bike near Willow River, MN with his brothers and close friends, who as a group were dubbed the "Burke Street Boys". Most of the time, the gang would be eating dust, rocks, and small trees just trying to keep up with him!

John's real passion was the great outdoors where he spent as much time as he could fishing and hunting. He was involved in the Ducks Unlimited and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation organizations and would regularly be off on fishing trips to Canada and elk hunts in Colorado. Most of the time, he hunted the 80 acres where he lived called "The Ranch", where he recently successfully took a black bear and a tom turkey.

Of his numerous qualities, John was notably always the first one there to help if someone

needed assistance. He was the type of person to stop and help a stranger fix a flat tire. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Peace to his memory.
