John, my friend, my inspiration, I will always cherish the memories of the time I spent with you. I am grateful for having known you...your courage, your strength, your kindness, undoubtedly he most
handsome angel in heaven.
Some people come in to our lives and quickly go, they leave footprints on our hearts and we are never the same. With deepest sympathy to your family.

How do i put into words on the kind of person john was my heart and prayers go out to his family. I went to school with john and when i saw him he was allways upbeat and happy to see me and would allways ask how my family was doing as he knew all of them. We have all lost a special soul and he will be greatly missed

Andrea,Chris,Paula and Lisa,
I was deeply saddened when I heard of John's passing. I had a chance to talk with John about a year ago. I knew at that very moment I was in the presence of someone truly special. I know God used him in many ways. John showed the world the incredible strength of the human spirit, unconditional love of oneself and of all mankind and what unshakeable faith is. John never had to say he believed in God. You could see it in his eyes, his smile and his actions. His light will never darken. It will shine through all he touched, as we live our lives with deeper purpose, meaning and love in all we do.

Our deepest sympathy to the Burns family for their loss. John was a great guy who over came such challenges and was an inspiration to us all. I fondly remember him coming up Whittier Ave and seeing one of us out side and he would be sure to stop to say hello always with a big smile on his face.

God Bless

I graduated in 1978 with Paula and I remember hearing of the terrible accident that John went through - it has been haunting and and yet an educational part of life in teaching my children.... I have never forgot the situation - but more recently I can remember meeting up with John at Vermettes - ALWAYS with a smile on his face and a kind word with everyone - I always admired his attitude and his accomplishments. Hearing of his death tonight made me sad ... I will always remember his being a gentleman to the end.

Aunt Dolly - and all -

John was charming, funny, flirty, handsome, so silly at times. He was courage and then some. He was your son, your brother, my cousin. I want to tell each of you, how special you are, and to always know in your hearts that John simply loved, so many people, add that quick smile, the confidence, the words of encouragement and how he made a difference in so many lives, surely, and deeply he will be missed.

My love to all -

John was one of the most remarkable and influential people to touch my life. He was also one of the most handsome and upbeat men I have ever had the pleasure to know. We taught together at Amesbury Middle School and the days, many blustery, cold wintry days, when John's big suede glove could be heard knocking on the downstairs door at the end of the corrider, the kids in our special class would explode with "Is John here? Is that John? Can I work with John" He was a hero to them and taught them a lot about perseverence and character in the face of adversity. He was so well known around town, it was impossible to walk five feet without someone yelling out "Hey John" from a passing car or stopping on the sidewalk to see what was new. He always left them with a smile...a wonderful broad smile that warmed one's heart.
I know his incredible family will surround and support each other in their loss. My heart is with them and a piece of it will always belong to John.

We were saddened to learn that John had passed away and we are holding him and his entire family in our hearts and prayers. I remember like it was yesterday when we were growing up and how much we enjoyed spending time with John. I also recall with fondness and with many positive lessons learned when John conquered Pike's Peak and the example he set for so many. Two years ago when Brian's Dad passed away, John took the time to attend his funeral and shared with Brian his fond memories of Brian's Dad that meant so much to Brian. This was an example of what a fine person John was. Although John may no longer be with us physically, our memories of him will never fade.

Dear Mrs. Burns and Family:
It was with sincere sadness I read about John today online from Florida where I live. Although I haven't seen John in many years, I am deeply saddened at his loss. Our families shared a closeness during my childhood years that I cherish and won't ever forget. I wish you all peace and strength at this time.

My heart is heavy this morning when I learned of John's passing . He was such a gentleman and gentle man. Every time I saw him, most often at town hall when he came to vote, he would seek me out and we would have a wonderful conversation. I well remember when my husband went to the hospital to present John his diploma. I would like to extend my heartfelt sympathy to the whole family for John, a life well lived.Bertina Lawliss
