A good man, a great cop, a loving family man and and a blessed person to call a friend. He loved San Francisco, he loved the San Francisco Police Department, he loved the old Northern Station and above all he loved his wife and family. On the mean and dangerous streets of San Francisco he could always be replied upon to be the first radio car on the scene when you called for back-up. God is very lucky to have him in heaven's police station.

Johnny, very sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May your father rest in eternal peace.

My sincerest sympathies on Mr. Candido's departure- I did enjoy the one time I met him, and you, Mrs. Candido, with my cousin John Garvey. I remember you were enjoying decorating for Christmas and let me help put out the "snow," etc.- this time, Mr. C will be there to celebrate in person and will no doubt have fun overlooking our relatively feeble efforts down here! I find it hard to believe that I am writing in this Guess Book. What will we do without John. I have known him since I was alittle girl, while he was wriing me love notes and putting them under my pillow. All of the great times we all had up in Lakeport. I can still picture John running around in his famous red Speedos. This is a man I really loved and will miss forever. Toni, Toni Marie, Johnny, Dom, Bobby--Ariana, stay strong. He wil alwayhs be in our hearts and mmories. Love you all, Tina

I first meet John at the Mission Station when he got shot in a hold-up on Mission Street. I later meet him again under better circumstances at the Northern Station. He was a joy and a character to be around and would help you without any fanfare. GOD bless John and the Candido family

Dear Toni, John and Toni: My prayers go out to you in this time of loss. I count it a privilege to have been able to know your husband and father. I will always treasure his support of me and my brother Kevin. He was loyal and his many words of encouragement were (and are) an incalculable source of strength to me. It was a blessing to spend some good times with him and Toni when I was at Saint Vincent de Paul in the Marina. May he find now in the Lord the peace he richly deserves.
