John Edmund Carbrey, 73, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away surrounded by his family, on November 29, 2018. A visitation will be held in his honor on December 3, from 6:00-8:00pm at Lohman Funeral Home, 733 W Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach, FL 32174. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 4th at 12:00pm at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 600 S Nova Rd., Ormond Beach, FL 32174. John was born in Fresno, CA and grew up in West Haven, CT. He attended Southern Connecticut State University where he earned a Master of Science in Special Education. He devoted his career to working in special education and retired as the Assistant Principal of Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, FL in 2004. His favorite hobby was photography and he was affectionately nicknamed the "PAPArazzi" by his grandchildren. The memories that he captured over many decades will be a lasting gift for us all. John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathleen (Holub), sons John Carbrey (Cindy) and Daniel Carbrey, daughter Jennifer Carbrey Beattie (Rob). John had four grandchildren: Colleen (Tom), Emily, Robert and Lauren. He is survived by his brothers Owen Carbrey and Frank Carbrey, brothers-in-law Paul (Debbie) Holub and Joe (Nancy) Holub and sisters-in-law Patty (Charlie) Hoagland, Barbara Hayes and Marjorie Holub, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents John J. Carbrey and Marie Carbrey Gormley).
