John Clayton Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 13, 2023.

John Stanley Clayton Jr. was born at a very young age on Good Friday, 19 April 1946. Seventy-six eventful years later, he passed away on Saturday, 4 February 2023 peacefully at home. He succumbed to lifelong ailments.

John has always enjoyed history, trains, and computers, but only one became his profession. His first job was working with the computer punch cards at a bank. Eventually, he started his own company and became a contracted computer programmer for the railroad and other companies across the country.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betsy Clayton. He is survived by his offspring Mary (spouse Ed) Schwenck, James (spouse Terri) Clayton, Anne Clayton, Jeanne (spouse Jon) Brown; his grand-offspring Danielle (spouse Gary) Gaiuque, Sarah Schwenck, Taylor McCloud, Katie Brown, Matt Brown, Kylee Clayton, Jessie Brown, Ethan Puckett, Alex Brown; and the great-offspring Emma Pifer, Michael Pifer, Johanna Pifer, and Julius Pifer. He is also survived by his brothers Dave (wife Pam) Clayton and Phil (wife Carol) Clayton and his nephew Jeff Clayton.

John always intended to be cremated after death. But first, he wanted to donate his body to science to help train the sharp, young medical minds in the intricacies of human anatomy. That he did. In the meantime, we will hold a memorial service and celebration of John's life this week.

Family, friends, loved ones, please join us in celebrating John's life. He didn't live in a vacuum, and neither will his passing be in a cold vacuum. Come and help warm the memories of our dad, granddad, and great-granddad.

The memorial service will be on Friday, 17 February 2023 at Tempe Nazarene Church, 3929 S. Rural Road, Tempe, AZ 85282. We'll gather at 5:30pm to visit, and the memorial service will begin at 6pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked donations be sent to the American Kidney Fund in memory of John Stanley Clayton Jr at kidneyfund.org/donate.

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
