John Wallace Colwell age 73 of Galveston passed away suddenly and peacefully at his home on Good Friday, March 29th, 2024. John was born January 16, 1951 in Galveston and where he at his death. He had also lived in La marque, Texas City, Lake Jackson, Angleton, and Santa Fe. Memorial services are 12:00 noon Saturday April 6, 2024 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home.

He attended Angleton High School and the College of the Mainland where he graduated with honors with an Associates degree in Drafting and taught welding classes. He was a welder for US Contractors and had worked at various plants including Dow, Mt Sinai, Brown and Root, Chocolate Bayou, and Amoco.

John loved to read and studied the Bible regularly.

He enjoyed bicycling for many years. He was a movie buff and had the gift of gab. He was known to go out of his way to help someone if he could and provide uplifting words. He had a good sense of humor and a very large laugh. He will be deeply missed.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Lester Lincoln and Georgia Mae Colwell, two sisters Charlotte Rheman and Virginia Frazier, and his nephew Matthew Krenek.

He is survived by his companion Floretta Bell, His son Jason Colwell, His daughter Stacy Colwell Hoff, two grandchildren Lillian Colwell and Elijah Colwell, His brother Joseph (and wife) Irene Colwell, His niece Billie Rae Bone (and kids.)
