My heartfelt condolences to the family and his UBC compatriots. Dr. Conway was my first undergrad contact with a begowned Cantabrigian. Overcoming the intimidation I felt (somewhat), I approached him in office hours about what reading I might do to improve my understanding of Modern European History. I dashed off to the bookstore, bought, read 'The Hedgehog And The Fox' and returned immediately to discuss my insights with Dr. Conway. (I believe my dispatch in complying with his suggestion perhaps startled him.) Noting his research interests, I now understand his queries about Confederate General and Episcopal Bishop Leonidas Polk during my oral 'defense' of my honours history paper. I would love to have been in contact; he's a treasured memory.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. John Conway. Dr. Conway was a man full of life and humanity. I will forever remember and treasure his kindness and inspiration he offered to us as WUSC students at UBC during our years of study (2002-2007). He was such a caring and inspiring personality. He will truly be missed by everyone but as the Bible tells us; God gives and God takes. I extend my sincere condolences to his immediate family and entire UBC community. May God Almighty rest his soul in eternal peace.
