John Currigan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 6, 2017.
John J. Currigan of Holt, 91, born July 11, 1925, in Lyons, MI to John W. and Marion (Cross) Currigan, died the 4th of July 2017. Survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia (Kenny) Vowels-Currigan; sons, Mike (Luella) and Ron Currigan; daughter, Linda Green; 5 step children, Tara Faulkner, Renee Miller, Vaughn Vowels (Tam), Denise Greenhoe (Thom), Teresa Worthington (Dave); Sister, Jane Stewart, and 15 Grandchildren. Preceded in death by his first wife, Leona Currigan and son, John W. Currigan.
A WWII Navy vet and an Experimental Sheet Metal Supervisor at Oldsmobile, retiring in 1987 without missing a day of work in 41 years. A Dale Earnhardt, Jr. fan and a lover of gardening, bowling, home improvement projects, his cottage at Turk Lake and especially NASCAR races, missing only one MIS race since they opened. He was a kind, gentle soul who appreciated the simple things in life and loved with an open heart. His biggest priority until the end was to take care of his loved ones; especially his wife, Pat. He will be greatly missed.
A Memorial gathering will take place at the Lyons Cemetery, in Lyons, Ml. Ionia Co., on John's 92nd birthday, Tuesday, July 11, at noon. Arrangements by Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. In lieu of flowers, please commit a random act of kindness in John's memory. Online condolences may be made at www.lakefuneralhomes.com

John was a kind and considerate stepfather to me and my siblings for 45 years. I will always love and be grateful to him for that, and especially for how he cared for our mom and was a loyal companion to her for all those many years. Rest in peace, dear John...❤

I worked with John many years at Olds in the experimental division. He designed all the prototype kirksite dies. I also bowled with him and had great admiration for him. Wonderful to work with and bowl with. He will be greatly missed.

I remember John as a very fair and honest man as my first boss in experimental sheet metal. He taught me the value of a great work ethic. I thank you John Currigan.

John was a thorough and professional leader at General Motors, and a competitive yet happy bowler in retirement. Always laughing at our monthly breakfasts.....we'll miss him terribly. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Pat and family.

Sorry to read of John's passing. He and his sister lived next door to my grandparents (John and Fanny Kalb). Remember his parents so well. Last time I saw him was at first families of Ionia. Rest in peace
