John A. D'Agostino Jr., 69, of Westbrook, CT, formerly Lincoln, RI, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Yale New Haven Hospital. John was born on June 22, 1955, in Central Falls, RI, to the late John and Louise (Gilluly) D'Agostino of Lincoln, RI. He graduated from Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro, MA in 1974 and started a family shortly thereafter. In 1984, he and his young family relocated to Westbrook, CT.

John was talented in many trades including manufacturing, construction, property management and also served for several years as a reserve officer with the Smithfield RI Police Department. He was passionate about nature and photography and enjoyed bird watching and fishing. He was best known for his story telling and his big contagious smile. John's greatest pride and joy came from being Grandpa to his adored grand-babies, Kyle and Ayla.

John retired from Cromwell Board of Education in 2018 after 24 years as a Building Maintenance Supervisor which began with the Westbrook Board of Education in 1994. John also served proudly as Chief Steward for the Municipal Employees Union, SEIU. After he retired, he worked as the Property Manager of the apartment complex where he resided for 35 years.

John is survived by his children, Amy L. (D'Agostino) Czenthe and John A. (aka Tony) D'Agostino Ill; former son-in-law, Stephan A. Czenthe; grandchildren, Kyle S. Czenthe and Ayla M. Czenthe; siblings, Mary Louise (Ward) Stiles, Margaret D'Agostino, Joan M. Camire, Ann Marie (Charles) McGinn and Paul (Lynda) D'Agostino; brother-in-law Charles Hunter; and 4 nieces and 7 nephews who referred to him fondly as "Uncle Buck". He was predeceased by his sister Catherine J. (Charles) Hunter and brother-in-law Joseph E. Camire.

John will be forever missed by his family and many friends. A private memorial will be held at a later date.

So sorry, Joan and family, for your great loss. I also remember the pond across the street, and spending time playing in your busy, joyful home. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you

As kids we loved to play across the street at the pond! You led the activities from building floats made from wood and tree branches to catching fish and only dad would eat the fish. We used sticks to make the big turtles move not knowing at the time they were snappers, we would sometimes get them on to the shore and watch them run back to the water. Lovely memories of my childhood that extended to adulthood. I love you John, rest in peace.
