John DALY Obituary

John (Jack) P. Daly, Jr. Age 81. Of Elkton, MD, formerly of Newark, DE, died May 22 at his residence. Survived by his wife, Nell E. Daly of Elkton, MD; 3 sons, John P. Daly III of Conowingo, MD, James Michael Daly of Woodbridge, VA, Sean C. Daly of Bear, DE; 3 daughters, Patricia D. Boyd of Saddle River, NJ, Joan Marie Prouty of Wilmington, DE, and Catherine Anne Ward of Wilmington, DE. Also survived by 6 grandchildren. He is retired as a Lieutenant Colonel of the United States Air Force, where he was a Navigator. He is a veteran of World War II. He flew for General Lauris Norstad, Commander of Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, 1956-1962. He is a graduate of Newark High School Class of 1935, where he was an athlete in baseball, football, basketball, and track. He then attended the University of Delaware and was an athlete in baseball, football, and basketball. He was a graduate of the University of Maryland. He was a member of Brantwood Golf Club, where he was an avid golfer; a member of the J. Allison O'Daniel VFW Post #475, Newark, DE. He was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Elkton, MD; and he was a former member of the Elkton Planning Commission for the town of Elkton, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 26 at 9:30am in the Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Elkton, MD. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 7-9pm in the ROBERT T. JONES & FOARD FUNERAL HOME, 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE. Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Summitt, DE. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation or Cecil County Library, Elkton Branch, c/o the funeral home.
