I worked for Mr. Daskos @ Quaker Ridge as a college student in the 1960´s along with many other college students. The club was filled with us and boy did we work hard & also had a great time.. Reason? Mr. Daskos being a Great guy and the members being great also.
Hey! We all took care of each other, with the leader ship of Mr. Daskos.

I knew John from Brooklyn where we served as altar boys at Kimisis Theotokou church. John was in charge and was always respected by the younger altar boys. I knew his wife Helen from GOYA. She was a beautiful, energetic person. They were great together. We parted ways for decades as life takes its course, but a couple of years ago I reached John on Facebook and he called me up. We spent at least an hour on the phone catching up on things and going over old stories. I was truly saddened when I heard of his passing. RIP my friend. You were special!

We should all smile as much as John did, and care about others as much as he did. John was very special to the Zimmerman family and the Posts.
We will miss him but always remember him.

John's unparalleled commitment to his love for his family, religion and his zeal for the pinnacle of success in the hospitality industry for fifty plus years in conjunction to his constant effort to help his community are each exemplary on every level of a life well lived however cut too short. This is nothing short of evident from his children and grand children each of whom are the apples of his eye. May John's entry into the Book of Life be forever in each of our hearts. Our sincerest condolences and virtual hugs. Gabrielle, Mattox & Mark Weingarden

John Daskos, touched, lifted and inspired the lives of everyone he met. He was a modern version of Will Rogers; "He never met a man he didn't like". The highest tribute we can give John is to remember his devotion to our nation, community and family, continuing his extraordinary service to humanity. May his memory be eternal.

The world has lost a most jovial and giving gentleman. His whole life was about service and friendship. There was never a time John would not help others in his career or in his personal life. My family had countless wonderful times at Quaker Ridge thanks to John Daskos. My father, Dr. Zimmerman, cherished his friendship with John and the two had many scotches together talking about life, golf, children and grandchildren. My sincere condolences to the whole family. Please know that fond memories of Major John Daskos will be held close to my heart. He had a life well lived. May he rest in peace.

Maria and Emanuel (Manny) my Condolences
I never had the pleasure to meet your father face to face, but was close by in many calls Emanuel made in the past 12 years. I can say that Manny ( Emanuel ) was happy after every phone call and I saw in Manny the respect and the love he had for his Father as he gave Major Daskos the latest weekly scoop on his grandchildren who we all know lit up your day.
Major Daskos
I truly thank you for raising such a great man in your son who I think is one of the most FAMILY oriented and carring persons I have had the pleasure to be around. As I'm sure this comes from you raising him in the right way "Family and God come First no matter what".
Rest in Peace and may God Bless you and I Pray you find Helen waiting for you in the Pearly gates.

My sister and I grew up with John & his brothers. Weekly our families would get together and we enjoyed many fun times. John taught me how to ride a bike. We enjoyed many adventures growing up in Brooklyn. My favorite memory of John was our trips to the TWA Terminal at JFK on a Sunday afternoon to watch the planes land & take off. John was always a hard worker and his family was always proud of all his successes.
We spoke not too long ago and we planned to meet once the pandemic was over with. There are just too many beautiful memories to share. John was a wonderful, warm and caring man. He will be missed by many.
Until we again, dear cousin, Rest in Peace.

John Daskos was an important part of the Greenburgh Veterans advisory committee. He was a great asset to the town of Greenburgh and was able to connect with everyone he met- whether they were wealthy or poor. As a country club manager he practiced excellent customer service. As a Major he was willing to protect our community. He was also an exceptionally nice man who will be missed. PAUL FEINER, Greenburgh Town Supervisor
