John Dauphin
John E. Dauphin, 96, of Swansea, Ill., born April 8, 1907, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Monday, June 2, 2003, at Four Fountains Nursing Home, Belleville, Ill.
He was a retired clerk/ typist for Springemeir Trucking Co. He was a 71-year member of Gothic Lodge 852 AF & AM; Scottish Rite Bodies; Belleville VFW Post 1739; and was an avid bowler. Mr. Dauphin was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.
He was preceded in death by a son, John R. Dauphin; his father, Oscar J. Dauphin; his mother, Violet, nee McCutchen, Dauphin Hasenstab; his stepfather, Joseph Hasenstab; a brother, Floyd Dauphin; a sister, Ruth Farries; and a grandchild, Stephen Dauphin.
Surviving are a son, Kenneth L. (Marguerite) Dauphin of Belleville, Ill.; a daughter, Patricia South of Swansea, Ill.; three brothers, Robert (Jesse) Dauphin of Phoeniz, Ariz., James (Shirley) Dauphin of Belleville, Ill., and Joe (Lil) Hasenstab of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister-in-law, Lenore Dauphin of Fairview Heights, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Pamela K. Dauphin, Donald K. Dauphin, Gregory (Debbie) Dauphin, Stephanie (Steve) Stovey, Susan (Michael) Kern, Christopher (Tammy) Dauphin and Jane (William) Marten; and three great-grandchildren, Sarah and Jessica Kern and Daniel Stovey.
Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society, American Heart Association or St. Louis Zoo Friends Association.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2003, at Kurrus Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2003, at Kurrus Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill., with Monsignor Bernard Voss officiating. Burial will be in Forever Mount Hope Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
