JOHN P. DECHEN

John P. Dechen, on June 26, 2005 of Thorofare. Age 79. Husband of Rose I. Dechen (nee Hoffman). Father of Stephen Dechen (Linda) of Vermont, John Peter Dechen III (Rachael) of Woodbury and the late Kenneth Dechen (Carol). Brother of Patricia Fitzgerald and Lynn Dechen both of Vineland and the late William and Paul Dechen. Grandfather of Amy, Edward (Brandy), Matthew, Jillian, Jamie and Gina.

Mr. Dechen was born in Vineland and has resided in Thorofare for the past fifty-three years. He was retired from NJ Bell in Camden where he worked for thirty-six years as an architectural engineer. He was a WWII Navy veteran serving on the USS William Biddle and has received the WWII Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two stars and the Asiatic Pacific Medal with four stars. He was also a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Westville.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing Thursday 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. John’s RC Church, 647 Beacon Ave., Paulsboro. Mass of Christian Burial 11am. Entombment Eglington Mausoleum, Clarksboro. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Lighthouse Hospice, 4 Executive Campus, Cherry Hill, NJ 08002. Arrangements by LANDOLFI FUNERAL HOME of Paulsboro.
