John L. Dubs

HAMPSTEAD, MD John Levi "Shorty and Pappy" Dubs, 95, died Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Carroll Hos pital Center in Westminster, Md. He was the husband of Elizabeth Mae Hilker, his wife of 48 years, who died in 1985. Born January 12, 1915, he was the son of the late Tobias Henry Dubs and Savannah Missouri Wildasin Dubs. He was a farmer and had worked for Black and Decker in the Heat Treat Department. He was a minuteman and was a member of the Williams Grove Steam Association. Surviving are his sons, Ralph E. Dubs, Sr. of Hampstead, Md., Clarence W. Dubs of Ulysses, and Melvin E. Dubs of Hanover; his 14 grandchildren; 19 greatgrandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his sons, Ivan L. Dubs and Ray Earl Dubs; and his eight siblings. The family will receive friends 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, Md., where a funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday.
