John Eccles Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Mr John Eccles announce his passing on
6th December 2021, at the age of 77.
John passed away peacefully at his home in Lewes and will be lovingly remembered by his family and his many friends.
John was a well known member of his community and worked as a reporter at the Sussex Express for over 30 years. He was also a keen tennis player and hiker, and spent his younger years hitchhiking around the world.
The funeral service will be held at St Pancras Catholic Church, Lewes at 10.30am on 7th January 2022, followed by a wake at The Dorset, South St at 2pm.
All are welcome to attend.
The family has requested that any remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the Afghan Crisis Appeal. Such as

John was a friend of ours from about 1975 when WAP (Working Association of Parents) was formed and we joined it as a baby-sitting / skill-exchange group in Lewes. We had all spent time in PNG and would reminisce over pints of Harveys Best, mostly in The Black Horse.
John was instrumental in our moving to Australia in 1984 but we would catch up on our return visits.
He was a larger-than-life character deeply embedded in the life of Lewes and he will be sorely missed.
