John Farley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 28, 2025.
John Farley, 76, passed away on September 21, 2025, in Boston, Massachusetts. Born on July 26, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York, John lived a life marked by service, dedication, and a deep love for his family and community.

John proudly served his country as a United States Marine. Enlisting in 1968 during a pivotal time in American history, he worked as a mobile hut air traffic controller and later as a drown proof instructor. His time in the Marines remained one of his proudest accomplishments and shaped the strength and resilience that defined him throughout his life.

Following his military service, John built a respected career as a customer care professional in the oil and gas industry. Spanning the mid-Atlantic to New England regions, he became known for his professionalism and commitment to excellence. His work ethic and ability to connect with people left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.

Beyond his professional achievements, John was deeply devoted to those around him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Griffin Farley; his four sons: John (Jack) Dylan Farley, Jeffrey Farley, Daniel Farley, and Brian Farley; and two cherished grandchildren: Madilyn Hope Farley and Jack Farley. His family was the center of his world.

John's love of music was well known among all who knew him. Whether sharing favorite songs or simply enjoying the rhythm of life around him, music brought him joy and connection. In later years, he found peace sailing in the Florida Keys and took every opportunity to be out on the water boating-his spirit always drawn to open skies and calm seas.

A man of compassion as well as strength, John dedicated time volunteering at the Brockton VA Hospital. He found particular meaning working with spinal cord injury veterans-a reflection of both his empathy and enduring bond with fellow servicemen.

Those who met John often described him as a "gentle giant." With an infectious sense of humor and an endless supply of stories, he had a gift for lighting up any room he entered. His warmth drew people in; his loyalty kept them close.

John was predeceased by his brother Gerard Farley and by his parents Florence Harte Farley and Gerard Farley. Their memory remained close to him throughout his life.

John's legacy lives on through the family he loved so dearly and the countless lives he touched with kindness, laughter, and unwavering support. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Funeral Mass will be held on October 9, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Church 4-2 Onset Bay Lane
