John, Happy Birthday in Heaven. My son celebrated his 21st yesterday at the Met game! You would have gone nuts. As we went though this past crazy year I always thought about how you would have handled it all and my answer was always....not well! Lol! Just the thought made me smile. I miss you and keep you and your family in my prayers every day and hope you are watching over mine. Always your friend and brother, Alan

I miss John everyday! There are stories, oh so many stories, they make us laugh and cry all over again. He was wonderful son, brother and uncle. He really cared about others, he was funny, he was a great manager and loved his job, he was ‘nervous man’ and he was just John! Spoke to him everyday, several times a day, he always had some silly story about something, or he had nothing to say at all but just wanted to talk. I remember saying ‘don’t you have to work?’ It’s been over 3 1/2 years and I still miss those calls. I guess I always will. I often come back here and read the kind words that have been written about him, it touches my heart and I know that he was loved.
Love you and miss you brother, Anne

John was my absolute favorite bookstore manager. That is saying a lot considering I had 10 states to cover with thousands of bookstores. John was a genuine, caring individual who made me laugh on many an occasion. He will be deeply missed.

John Femia was a great guy. He and I would frequently chat whenever we would see one another at the various Barnes & Noble functions we attended. We weren't in the same region (he was Region 703, I am Region 704), but our two regions often held meetings together, and whenever there would be a break in the day, whether a lunch break or even a quick coffee break, John and I would get together and shoot the breeze. He was a terrific guy; he was funny and smart, and he loved the business. I met John back in 2001 when I had been helping out at Queensborough, but I had already heard of him for years. He was a bona fide legend in the company. I will miss him terribly. Matthew Kent (B&N 727)

John was such a great guy. It was always a pleasure being around him. I remember when I first started in the company @ LaGuardia CC that's when I first met John about 15 years ago. I use to speak to John almost every single day to chat. John will truly be missed. My prayers are with the family in this time of need.

It's hard to believe it was over 30 years ago that I first heard you screaming through your bedroom door for your mom's meatballs! Although both our lives took unexpected twists and turns the one constant was our brotherhood and friendship. I wish I could hug you now and say goodbye but I know that it would be just as painful. I know that your are in a better place now where the baseball grass is always green but you will truly be missed by many. Until I see that wonderful smile again and wrap my arm across your shoulder please watch over my family and I. Always your brother, Alan.
