We were very fortunate to have met John early on our Looper boat trip. We traveled 9 months together and never tired of his company. John was the greatest story teller, sharing tales of his childhood and his sons. We learned more about US history from John then we ever did in our history classes. We were amazed by the scope of his knowledge of world history as well. However, the greatest attribute was John's love of life, his love of Barb, the love for his sons and their families and the love for his friends. We felt very fortunate to be called his friends and family. Whenever we remember our boat trip and our Route 66 trip all of the wonderful times with John and Barb become living memories that we will cherish forever.

We met John & Barbara while traveling the Great Loop on our boats which included a 22 hour crossing of the Gulf of Mexico. We all kissed the ground after a very rough crossing and then went to breakfast together after being up all night. John loved boating and traveling and was a dear to know. We celebrated completing The Loop together In Ft. Myers, FL.

Thank you Uncle John for the many great memories.
Memories of family holidays, inviting us on his company's annual picnics and flights in small aircraft over Canterbury New Zealand are just a few.
One particular flight with Uncle John stands out.
A cross country flight was taking longer than intended. It became obvious we would not make it home to Christchurch before daylight ended.
John prepared to land at a small grass airfield. A car on the airfield was flashing its headlights - I imagined this was in case we had not seen the airfield.
As we circled over the airfield, other cars with headlights on to act as landing lights were forming a line at the side of the airfield.
John landed the plane safely with a little daylight to spare. The driver of the car that had been flashing the headlights introduced himself as a pilot and owner of the local hotel. He gave us accommodation for the night and hospitality in the bar.
What a great time for an adoring young nephew who didn't mind the least being late for school the following day!
Much love to Barbara and all the Flint family. Our thoughts are with you.

I have great memories of Uncle John, and have him to thank for many experiences ...
From early childhood, flying over Christchurch with Uncle John as the pilot, to being his co-driver on road trips in the U.S.
...North Carolina. Cape Canaveral- NASA to Niagara Falls
....I can remember being told by Uncle John that I was the better driver, not as heavy footed as he was!.. Looking back I realise he just wanted me to drive so he could put his seat back and have zzzzzzz's !!!
Thanks for the great times Uncle John.
Barb, Mike, Shane, Sean and Andy, our thoughts are with you.
Forever in our hearts

I have so many wonderful memories of my fun Uncle John throughout my childhood. He had a wonderful laugh, very infectious. He would tease me incessantly and as I grew up I began to return the favour. We had many great times and I will miss hearing about his next big adventure. With much love to Barb and the Flint family. XXX

John took my brothers and I on our first ever flight. We flew from White Waltham airfield in England in a Piper Cherokee 140 and flew around the local area. We absolutely loved it and I still enjoy flying today.
I also remember telling John about Wombles. The Wombles of Wimbledon Common were very big in the '70s and John heard about them when he was working in Libya. We sent him a drawing of a Womble and he said that he put it in the back window of his car with "This is what a Womble looks like", and then drove around so that the Libyans would know what one looked like too.
So if you ever meet a Libyan who knows what a Womble looks like, you can probably thank John for educating them.
Barb, Mike, Shane, Sean and Andy. I am so very sorry for your loss. We all have great memories of John and as long as we have them he will always be with us.
