Jack was in his element at our family reunions. As Nancy said, when Jack got together with his brothers and sisters, it was like they were all 50 years younger and had always been together! What a strong bond. I was especially amazed by Jack's recollection of details. And it seems like he knew every city and road in the country. Whether we were talking about Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, or any other city, Jack had been there and knew all of the travel routes, even after many decades. How could he remember all of that! When I think of Jack, I think of Johnny Cash singing the 1959 song, "I've Been Everywhere".
Now, he had taken his final road trip to be with his Savior, and his parents, brothers and sisters who have gone on before him. My heart goes out to Maria, and Jack's kids and grandkids. May God bring healing to your hearts, as He has now completely healed Jack.

You will be missed Uncle Jack! My mom (Jack's younger sister Anita Irwin) always enjoyed he and Maria's family visits to Oklahoma City for Oktoberfest, German food, and "porch" time.
My sons were always amazed that their great uncle Jack managed to always stay current with Oklahoma and Oklahoma State sports! We will miss your stories and quick wit!
Our thoughts and prayers are with Maria, Jack Jr, Chuck, Nancy, Sally and their families.

Jack was one of eight children, who eventually scattered from sea to shining sea. He kept in touch with everyone, though, and thought nothing of jumping into his car and driving nonstop to halfway across the continent to connect!
Here are some photos of him with his siblings from the 1930s and from 2010s!

My tribute to my Uncle Jack is this portrait I drew to capture the grin he wore. He had a ready laugh and fast Garlock wit even during inevitable hard times. We will miss you, Jack!

I will always remember all the happiness my Dad had with his siblings. They were miles apart and may not see each other for years but when they got together it was just like yesterday was the last time they spoke.
I'm sharing one of my favorite photos of him with "brother Gene". This was taken before the boat calamity in OKC in 2016, where Gene Jr saved the day. Such a funny experience and one of many great memories!
He loved his family so much. He may not have said the words a lot but one of the last things he told me is he really loved his kids and Maria.
He is now telling his stories with his family in heaven. I'm thankful he is at peace and no longer has to fight for air. He is probably playing catcher to Morrie's fastball, just like when they were young!
