JOHN GERMS

JOHN R. GERMS October 23, 1932 April 10, 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather, opa, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. John passed away at St. Paul's Hospital after many brave struggles with cancer. John was born in Holland and at the young age of nineteen he immigrated to Canada. John was a journeyman painter for more than forty years and owned Germs Painting and Decorating Ltd. John loved fishing and campfires at the family cabin at Jackfish Lake. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of fifty two years, Rina; son Richard (Linda) Germs; daughter Elizabeth (Alain) Gignac; grandchildren, John James Germs, Suzie (Tauriq) Gamildien, Kristine (Lance) Arcand, and their mother Marianne Leier, Christopher Gignac (Dani), and Stephanie Gignac; and his great grandchildren Aminah and Daniyal Gamildien, and Bently Arcand. Also survived by his brother Adam; sisters, Stiena (George) and Dina; sister-in-law Alena Germs; brother-in-law John (Connie) DeZanger; cousins, John Germs, Jenny Marissen, Ed (Marianne) Germs; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Ben and Jacob, sister-in-law Riksta Germs, cousins Gene Marissen and Tiny Germs, and nephew John DeZanger. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John's honour to The Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. A Celebration of His Life will take place between 2 and 4 pm on Monday, April 23, 2012 at Mayfair United Church, 902 33rd Street W., Saskatoon, SK.
