John Giannios Obituary
Mr. Giannios was born in Piraeus, Greece, where he was a sea captain and ship owner for 27 years. He migrated to the United States 22 years ago.
John leaves behind his wife, Lena; children, Alexander, Erik, Katy and Niko; grandchildren, Amanda, Yanni and Camillo; and his daughter-in-law, Kelli.
In Greece, John is survived by his sisters, Maria and Lina, and brothers-in-law, Kostas and George.
After a successful career as a sea captain and ship owner, John moved to Destin where he was involved in real estate investments.
John was of Greek Orthodox faith and was a member of St. Markella and Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Mary Esther.
Memorial services were scheduled for April 30 at Emerald Coast Funeral Home in Fort Walton Beach. Interment will take place in Athens, Greece.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Hospice, 101 Hart St., Niceville, FL 32578, or to St. Markella and Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, U.S. 98, Mary Esther, FL 32569.
John was an excellent husband, a caring and loving father and grandfather, and will be missed by his family, relatives and his friends.
